Well… just as the city was finally calming down—and just as we had a solid, fair, fact-based process in motion to determine the future of the Boardwalk—Councilman Jody Levchuk is now calling for a re-vote on a rehabilitation designation for the Wonderland property.

This matter now appears headed to the December 4 Council meeting, where, if it’s allowed on the agenda, the Council will vote on sending it to the planning board.

So, once again, the choices are:

  • A sweetheart deal for a developer with financial ties to City Hall, or

  • The right process—an open, transparent, fact-driven approach that treats every Boardwalk owner fairly and protects what makes Ocean City special.

And just to be clear: We agree the north end deserves attention and near-term solutions. We've been advocating for that for months, and Council members Dave Winslow and Sean Barnes have both been vocal about finding creative and speedy ways to activate the north end. There is no reason for those storefronts to sit empty while the broader planning work continues, as Levchuk suggested.

Will we see Ocean City at its worst… or Ocean City at its best?
We’ll find out on December 4.

what we need you to do
as of November 2025

We were successful on August 21 because we made damn sure every member of Council knew how important this was to the public. We need that same energy—and more—right now.

Write your Council person today.
And tomorrow.
And the next day.

  • Tell Terry Crowley: Thank you for your steady leadership. Please continue to stand strong! The people of Ocean City appreciate your commitment to a transparent, fact-driven Master Plan process and your support for the subcommittee’s work. This is exactly the thoughtful approach our town deserves.

  • Tell Dave Winslow: Thank you for bringing real business expertise and level-headed judgment to the Master Plan subcommittee. We value your consistency and your commitment to the decisions the Council has already made. Your voice is critical—please keep at it.

  • Tell Jody Levchuk: We understand you’re hearing from many voices and facing a lot of pressure, but the sudden shift in direction is creating unnecessary confusion and instability. Your new rationale doesn’t align with the facts and reflects the priorities of only a small minority. We respectfully ask you to step back, reconsider, and return to the fair, inclusive process the Council already approved.

  • Send emails. Leave voicemails. Stop your Council person on the street. Let them know—clearly, firmly, (politely), and repeatedly—that Ocean City deserves a fair, fact-based process… not back-room deals, not rushed decisions, and not a Boardwalk shaped by a single developer’s interests.

Your voice changed the outcome once.
Let’s do it again.

Together we make the city better. Numerous advocacy groups have formed in Ocean City to oppose the hotel, bayside commercial development, historic home demolition, and lack of government transparency and vision. These include: Save Wonderland, Friends of OCNJ History & Culture, Ocean City 2050, and Concerned Citizens of Glen Cove, among others.

We’ve stopped bad projects before—we can do it again!

This isn’t the first time developers have tried to force bad plans on OC. We’ve won before, and we can win again. The majority of OC residents do not want this high-rise boardwalk resort! The Ocean City community understands that change is unavoidable, but it can be done in a way that respects our history and maintains the integrity and values on which our island was founded.
